Cutting consumables
For discs and blades, state the material to be cut, the machine interface, the cutting method and the required diameter. Separate wet and dry use where the project requires it.
Drilling and hole-making
For drill bits, core bits and hole saws, specify the drilled substrate, shank type, working length and whether guided or unguided use is expected.
Abrasive and surface preparation
For grinding, cleaning and flattening consumables, describe the surface condition, required result and compatible backing pad or tool. Keep grain, backing and form distinct.

- Name the required cutting, drilling or abrasive product and the project-prescribed performance or size. Do not describe only the shape or colour.
- Workpiece material
- State the material being cut, drilled or abraded and any layer, hardness or density requirement from the project.
- Equipment interface
- Record bore, arbor, shank, backing type and maximum machine speed where the consumable must match a tool.
- Dimensions and usable life
- Ask for the stated diameter, thickness, working length or grain and the declared wear or life expectation under the project use.
- Pack contents and traceability
- Require the supplier to state pack count, batch information and the document that links the product to the declared identity.
- Limits and required conditions
- Request the declared limitations, required speed range, cooling or dust conditions directly from the supplier.

Should I buy by piece, set or pack for drilling consumables?
Ask the supplier to state the pack contents and quote the total pieces that meet the diameter objective. Compare only after totals are converted to the same piece count.
Are wet and dry cutting discs interchangeable in a quote?
Do not decide from diameter or appearance. Request the exact product marking and manufacturer confirmation of wet, dry or dual use, and compatibility with the named machine and its speed limits.
